A Saturday Adventure

Hannah and I went on an excellent adventure. We hopped a morning train to Trencin, and wandered around. It has an awesome castle on a cliff, and you can climb the city tower to the to of the clock. We went up to the castle and the lady was saying that we can have a tour, but its in slovak, but we can have english text about it.



While we were wandering the lower castle, we saw no one.... so the cartoon played in our head about someone guiding us around the castle babbling in slovak, and us just reading the texts about all the awesome stuff.



Well we got the only guide that spoke english! (yay timing) and he was really funny. He liked to quizz us on things and ask us questions which is strange because now, being a teacher, I am the one that asks the questions. It was good though, he turned it into a competition between hannah and I. we both failed pretty good because neither of us could remember names or dates, just the fluff of the story- but in the end, I think she won.



Of course this castle had another bad ass queen- as usuall. This queen was young and beautiful, and married at 16 to a man who only cared about money, and war.... so he ignored her. Instead of having a hissy fit, she just went out and had many lovers. Apparently her ghosts still exists IF

1. you are a young man with a pure heart

2. alone in the castle at midnight

3. shout her name (barbora) three times



Of course we asked him if he tried it, but he said that he has never been alone in the castle at midnight... bummer. Asking him other questions we found out that he is one of the fencing champions in the summer durring the midieval tours. That sounds awesome, you get a special tour of the dungeons and stuff too.



Oh! fun fact- this castle has never been conqured. except by a house fire... so its mostly in tact.
