School Adventures: Quilts and Circulation

Teaching about the Underground railroad is really interesting because the students get into it, i think they might like it! (dont tell them I said that though!) We made quilt squares for an artproject about the underground railroad. They had no idea what a quilt was so that made it more interesting.

In seventh grade biology, I am teaching about the human body. Durring the circulatory system unit we recreated the system on the playground. It was really exciting for the kids, and more entertaining to watch. The slide was the heart, two people were acting as valves to let cells in and out. Two people were the lungs, handing out balls aka oxygen molecules to blood cells, one person was a capillary, taking oxygen and giving carbon dioxide, and the white blood cells and the germs were playing tag. Here is a short video toward the end of the lesson: video to come later :D
